At the Corner

At the Corner , video installation, dimension variable, 2013

“At the Corner” is a site-oriented video installation work. What I am recently interested in the materiality of light delivered by a projector. In order to explore this, I am trying not to build or add anything but using the intrinsic elements of the space. In “At the Corner”, I used the corner space of the gallery. The gallery space has a narrow passage connected to the next room. It seems like light streams through the chinks of the door, or sunshine in the afternoon filters into the space through the shades. However, these lights and shadows are illusions created by the video projected in a precise way.

In “At the Corner”, I used the corner space of the gallery. The gallery space has a narrow passage connected to the next room. I intentionally blocked off the passage and exquisitely mapped the space. Watching “At the Corner” may confuse the audience in the first place. Since it seems like light streams through the chinks of the door over the passage, or sunshine in the afternoon filters into the space through the window shades. However, these patterns of light and shadow are illusions created by video that projected onto the wall in an extremely precise way.
